ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The Concordia Farmers Market began in 2014 as a student project. It has been through many iterations over the years. Since 2016, it has been a working group of the Concordia Food Coalition.
The Farmers market runs on both campuses from June – October, and partners with local vendors and campus farmers for produce and CSA (community supported agriculture baskets.)
Facilitated by the fee levy, nonprofit group, The Concordia Food Coalition.


KEY CHALLENGES: Getting access on campus with good traffic, and enough covered space for vendors.
KEY SUCCESS: On-going negotiations with the campus sustainability office, advocating for the value to students and campus community. Lots of communication is key!

TIMELINE
2014: Launched as a student-led project, partnering with the Concordia Greenhouse. Between June and October there were markets happening each week at both campuses
2016: Project management was changed to the Concordia Food Coalition.
2022: CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) partnership with Coop CultivAction
2024: Market Dollars Program begins, offering students $10 towards market purchases.
Market schedule changes to weekly at Loyola June – August and SGW September – October
